It unlocks wrinklers which each eat 5%(Up to a maximum of ten wrinklers at a time) of your cps but when popped give you back 110% of the cookies it ate, but it also turns 1/3 of your golden cookies into wrath cookies which have a high chance of giving a negative effect instead of a good one.

To my knowledge the first three Ascensions have been figured out. My advice is setting a goal and reaching it. For example, my current goal is 52,776 Prestige before Ascending for the fifth time. Here is a helpful guide to the first 13 ascensions, which gives you a guide for which heavenly upgrades to buy when.I find that it usually doesn't take that long after an ascension to get my buildings/upgrades back. So I tend to ascend when it would increase my prestige by 25-50%. I do 10x the prestige as last ascension pretty much every time (300, 3,000, 30,000, etc.), with mildly-active play, and it doesn't take too long between.I'm only at prestige level 5 which means ascending would only grant me a measly 5 heavenly chips. I'm on the first ascension (the one your at when you start the game) and I have about 1 million cookies per second. I believe i can ascend but i wont get any prestige, only heavenly chips.
