Adrianna "Adrian" Balboa (née Pennino, played by Talia Shire) is Rocky's girlfriend, and later wife.She is the mother of their only child Robert Balboa Jr. She appears in the original five Rocky movies. In Rocky Balboa, it is revealed that Adrian died in 2002, after 26 years of marriage, she died of ovarian cancer, and four years before the events of Rocky Balboa.
Rocky's personal life is complicated. He has just met Adrienne Pennino and their relationship blossoms, but Adrienne's brother Paulie doesn't like Rocky. He is jealous of his talent and of the opportunity he is about to experience. Rocky placates him by suggesting that he advertises Paulie's meat packing business on his clothing before the fight.
