Oct 27, 2023 · With the Range disabler you have to mail it in and if you aren't the original owner they want $100 to flash it which is ridiculous. I tried a Range disabler on our 2016 Silverado 5.3L V8 and I ended up removing it. While it did prevent going into V4 mode I noticed that the engine burned oil when the Range disabler was installed.

I am certainly no mechanic but hopefully can answer a little - GMs are notorious for lifter issues caused by their AFM/DoD engines. Basically will turn your 8 cylinder truck into a 4 cylinder to get an extra mpg at best. There is little benefit to the AFM/DoD system but many expensive cons.Price.
