1. INTRODUCTION. Phenytoin is an effective drug for treatment of generalized and focal seizures. It putatively acts by causing voltage‐dependent block of voltage gated sodium channels.1 Phenytoin is, however, considered a drug with a small therapeutic window: low exposure may result in inadequate therapy and high exposure may even lead to serious neurological side effects.

General. Type: Anticonvulsants. Dosage Forms: capsules 50, 100, 200, 300 125/5 mL IM/IV. Common Trade Names: Dilantin, Phenytek. Often combined with propylene glycol to increase water solubility.
