I recently got a GOTRAX Rival (apparently also GLX V2?), and it seems serious enough to handle my usual rides. I took it for about a 2-mile ride earlier in about 1C weather with light rain and snow, pot holes all over roads, and hills here and there that dropped the speed to about 5MPH at its lowest without pedal assistance.

Personally i think it is BS, as it is a electric motor. Mode 2 seems to provide more power/torque and speed. I do not think any gears are in this device and i think the manual is simply wrong.
