a bad flexplate will sound somewhat like a bad rod and should not be ran it can destroy the bellhousing and back of motor if it comes apart. if you pull the dust cover on the bellhousing and the flexplate is cracked and you try to move it by hand it will make noise. 01 gmc sierra. 160,000 miles. new injectors at 160,000.

When at idle (in park or drive doesn't matter) there is a loud ticking noise coming from what sounds like drivers side rear of engine. It is only at idle as soon as throttle is given it goes away.
